Kitchen islands: will one fit?
You need about a metre of clear floor on each side. We measure first and tell you straight.
Why add a kitchen island
The right island transforms how a kitchen works, giving you more of everything that matters:
When a peninsula wins
Under 3.6 m of clear width, a peninsula or a run of tall units usually works better.
Ways to use your island
An island can do as much as you want it to. Use it for prep with a large worktop, add a sink or hob to bring the work triangle together, build in a breakfast bar for casual seating, or pack it with drawers and cupboards for extra storage. Many islands do several of these at once.

Worktops and finishes
The worktop is the star of the island, so we help you choose a surface that stands up to daily use and looks the part, from quartz and porcelain to granite and solid timber. A waterfall end, a contrasting colour, or a mix of worktop and breakfast-bar heights all add character.
Designed around your storage
An island is a chance to add serious storage right where you need it. A typical island brings together:

Islands for open-plan kitchens
In an open-plan kitchen, an island does double duty: it gives you a hard-working kitchen zone while gently dividing the space from the dining and living areas. Seating on one side turns it into a social hub, so whoever is cooking is still part of the room.
Ideas for kitchen islands
Popular touches include a breakfast bar with pendant lighting, a built-in wine cooler or bookshelf on the end, a hidden bin and recycling, and a contrasting colour or timber top to make the island a feature. Bring your ideas and we will design an island that fits.
What an island costs
An island is priced as part of the kitchen.
